The Phoenician city of Mozia in Sicily

Ruins of Mozia city

A walk in the sun in the island of the Phoenician

The Phoenician city of Mozia in the lake of Stagnone during the #italiagrandsketchingtour.

Once upon a time the Phoenician came to the Island of San Pantaleo and built a beautiful city that was called Mozia. Through the centuries the city slowly disappeared but the richness of the culture remains and can be explored with a trip to the island in the middle of the lake of Stagnone in Marsala.

Once arrived in this area of Sicily everyone was telling me about the Phoenician city of Mozia, that I should go to there and I didn’t really understand why. After setting foot on the boat and starting the trip that would get me there I understood. This island is a jewel in the middle of this big lake where you can discover ancient cultures and lifestyles surrounded by a rich wildlife. Visiting it in winter was even better. The sun was warm and no one was around so I could walk freely and enjoy the nature and the solitude, the perfect day on the perfect island.
