Gothic style in the center of Agrigento
The Chamber of Commerce of Agrigento in the #italiagrandsketchingtour ⠀ ⠀
Strolling in Agrigento is strange. Up and downs, lot of stairs and many, many small streets. It is like a labyrinth built up the hills. And then you come to the Main Street, which is crossing the whole city and almost embracing the hill top. Here you find with all the shops and bars. And it feels like being in another place.
Walking this street many times in my search for food, water or somewhere to spend some time in my solitude, I walked by this building and I loved it deeply. With its gothic style making you look at the sky, with the whites and grey and light blues enveloping you in calmness. And in its solitude that reflected mine, I think.
On my last day I decided I wanted to draw it, but the position was orribile. You can imagine: almost in the middle of the street, sitting on a plant vase trying to get some straight lines, while cars were honking and running at my side.
Curiously enough, I had just finished sketching that a car came to park in the spot I had been standing for the last half hour. And the driver noticed me and my pencils and came to talk to me. She also was a painter and she managed the art gallery just on the other side of the street. Small world right? It feels like every time I doubt about my art, I get reassured that it is possible, in the most random ways. Or at least that is how I want to read it.
