The beautiful city by the Como Lake
View of Salita Serbelloni in Bellagio during the #italiagrandsketchingtour.
For the day my adventures were not finished. I arrived near Bellagio around lunchtime and I had to be at the hotel for the retreat around 6, so I had plenty of time to visit the town. It is located by the lake and to get there the street is all curves down the mountains.
Once on the bottom, you can imagine my surprise, not to say terror, noticing that the breaks were not working anymore, at least one of them. Picture it: a roundabout approaching and the pedal goes all the way down without nothing happening. The worst nightmare ever! Fortunately I’m a slow driver so I could slow down with the other break and I managed to enter directly in the courtyard of a petrol station. Of course it was closed, and I couldn’t do anything about it. Only after the retreat I could contact the mechanic and I discovered that actually it is common for motorcycles to lose the break in this situation because the oil gets too hot or something like that. Well that is a piece of information I would have loved to have before it happened.
Visiting Bellagio after getting my breath back
Anyway, I remember having to take the decision what to do. Bellagio was two kilometers in front of me and I had nothing that could be done for the motorcycle. So I decided that I would let the situation flow and I would not waste my afternoon and still go visiting the town by foot. Once there, the Salita Serbelloni is one of the first beautiful views that I admired entering the town and I decided to draw it and have a pizza just nearby.
After drawing and lunch, I took a tour of the beautiful town and headed back, to get my luggage and to find a taxi to the hotel that was back on top of the hill. What I didn’t know is that there is no real taxi service in the area, because of regulations and bureaucracy, and the only option was a van for which I had to wait almost one hour and that costed me like crazy, also because we got lost looking for the Villa that would host the retreat.
Fortunately the beauty of the place and amazing people that were there to welcome me took away immediately all the drama of my day and I could immediately start enjoying the power of love and connections. But that is another story.
