Bell Tower in San Gennaro

The town lifestyle under the tower shadow

The Bell Tower in San Gennaro Vesuviano along the #ItaliaGrandSketchingTour

During my journey I tried to visit as many friends as possible along the road. Near Naples lives Felice and I spent couple of days visiting him, and charging myself with the great energy that he has. Felice has a crazy life, right now he is becoming a Yoga teacher after spending a lot of time in India.

San Gennaro is one of the small towns, that lay around the volcano Vesuvio. In fact from Felice house you could see it in all its magnificence. And we talked about how this can affect the people. If you think about it, you live in a place that could explode any minute. A place of pure power and fire. I expressed to Felice my idea that fire runs in the veins of people here, maybe that is why they are so passionate. Who knows.

Anyways, during my time here in San Gennaro, a stop to have a great Napolitano coffee and cake was a must, together with the draw of the main feature of the town: the bell tower. This monument was part of the old convent, but what characterize it is that it is part of the town lifestyle.

The tower shadow lies on the main square and most of people’s life revolve around it. Sitting down at the cafeteria, it was relaxing to hear everyone knowing each other and to tell the truth a bit exciting being at the center of attention while drawing the tower. I take it that there are not so many painters around here, and not so many tourists as well.

The day was in between sunny and cloudy and the light changed so many times that it was hard to keep track, but at the end I’m quite happy about it! What do you think?
